From Cosmetology to Clean Skin: My Journey to Bar Naked Skin
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 20 years, starting out as a licensed cosmetologist doing hair. And anyone who’s ever done hair knows the truth—“time off” doesn’t really exist. Even while I stepped away to raise my kids and support my husband’s career, I was still doing friends’ and family’s hair, sharing tips, and keeping my passion for the craft alive.
As my kids got older, I started taking small roles back in the beauty field, slowly reconnecting with the part of me that loves helping people feel confident in their own skin.
It was during an anniversary trip with my husband that everything changed. I decided to try a handcrafted soap—even though I usually stuck to dermatologist-recommended products for my sensitive skin. I thought, “Just this once,” because it smelled so good. The difference was incredible. My skin felt soft, nourished, and healthy in a way it hadn’t in years.
Curious, I dug deeper—and discovered something shocking: most products labeled “beauty bar” or “body bar” aren’t actually soap. Your first clue? Look at the label—if it doesn’t say “soap,” it legally can’t. I couldn’t believe it. How had we all been told to use products that weren’t truly caring for our skin?
That moment lit a fire in me. I knew I wanted to educate people about real soap and the importance of ingredients you can actually read and trust. I wanted to create products that moisturize, nourish, and genuinely care for skin, while giving people the knowledge to make informed choices about what they put on their bodies.
And that’s how Bar Naked Skin was born: from a lifelong passion for beauty, a dedication to skin health, and a mission to provide clean, ethical, and effective products that help people feel confident and cared for in their own skin.
At Bar Naked Skin, we don’t just sell soap—we educate, inspire, and create products that work. Because healthy, moisturized skin isn’t just a luxury—it’s a daily act of self-care.
